Hills, Pacer Promise, Books & New Wine

I went to the wine shop in my town, telling the owner that I can't seem to find anything that compares with Santa Marguerita Pinot Grigio, and he recommended Bracco Pinot Grigio. So, I've saved it for the last episode of Sopranos. Pasta and a new Pinot---what a way to go!!
Saturday was hills again. But this time running up them!! My girlfriend, Anne, decided to join me, and since we're planning on running the Marathon together, I was thrilled to have her with me.
She's the one that helped me pr 1 1/2 yrs ago at a zero degree 5 mile race with crazy winds. She's done the Chicago Marathon 13 times!! Well, she kept me running those hills yesterday--six times!! She LOVES to talk---was great in helping me ignore any discomfort. SO--I asked if she would pace me on my 50 miler in February. SHE SAID YES!! I'm sooooo thrilled!!

Sunday was my yoga class and weights. I'm feeling stronger and stronger. I'm really enjoying this training, it's great to believe that I'm really on the right track with my training. Coach Lisa has been quite the inspiration.
I've become so narrow with my reading choices. Seems this past year I keep reaching for the books that are about running. I'm in the middle of reading Amazon.com: Under an Equatorial Sky: Books: Rebekah E. Trittipoe and Amazon.com: Deep Survival: Who Lives, Who Dies, and Why: Books: Laurence Gonzales and then to really top it all off, I LOVED watching Amazon.com: Running on the Sun: DVD: Gabriel Flores (II),Lisa Smith,Jack Denness,Nick Palazzo,Eric Clifton,Ephraim Romesburg,.... Am I addicted to this sport or what???!!!!

Sounds like your training is really going well and the best part is that you really like it..

Cool a pacer for your 50, I still might try to run the "rocky" also, not sure which event yet..

I like the DVD and reading list as well. That "Running in the Sun" DVD is so inspirational.

Sounds like you're doing great on the training front and love the book list! I need to start a new one.

I loved "Running on the Sun." Glad to hear that your friend will be pacing you on the 50 miler.

How about Sauvignon Blanc? That's my favorite.

I have not read much about running. But years ago (many, many years) I watched a movie about a woman who insisted running - a marathon? - while she was pregnant. I had nothing in common with her, but my retina still remembers her body thrusting forward in slow motion, and I am trying to hunt down the movie and watch it again.

You mean there are books and DVD's about things beside running - who knew!

I've read Under the Equatorial Sky and enjoyed it. I've been looking for Running on the Sun, haven't scored yet here in Germany.

I am reading The Elements of Effort by John Jerome and find it v. informative and interesting. Pacing a marathon group in the park, that sounds like a productive effort. I agreed to lead my club's 10-mile program this summer & fall (gets ready for the Army 10-Miler, same day as Chicago) and since I'm doing Chicago, I'm trying to figure out how to conduct that and get ready for Chicago. Maybe I'll run from home to the weekend meeting points and back afterwards.
