A bit scared...

My leg hurts...not when I run...just afterwards. I've been icing, resting, stretching and even strengthening. I'm running just under 20 miles/week and around 3-4 hrs biking weekly. Not much, I should be increasing now for the marathon in October, but who knows if that's to be now. I'll try a few more days of resting and icing and then I'll see the doc.

hmmmm.....are triathlons the answer????? Maybe I'll go swimming tonite. Lucky I'm female and can get away with this ever-changing-mind crap.

Congratulations on your first Triathlon! Go easy on running and try to cross train with biking and swimming and you can do another triathlon and still be on marathon training.

I had a similar thing happen to me. It turned out that I was not fitted on my bike correctly and made some minor adjustments to the pedals and the seat and now I'm fine.

yeah I think you need to get off the bike and on the road. Running does not hurt people biking does. Also make sure you strech, strech, strech. Even if this is not a muscle injury muscles have a way not working when tight causing other problems. Trust me on that one.

Swimming is good though. yeah swimming.

Also if you do not own "The Stick" yet then get one. I bring mine to work alot. nothing like working out kinks while you are trying to figure out what you need to do to get your job done.

Oh no!! See the doctor if it's not better tommorow. The pool or eliptical machine might be a good option until it feels better.

Lora,

Which part of your leg hurts?? My experience with leg hurting focuses around my knees.

When I was training marathon last year, my right knee aches after a long run. I ice it and it seems to be ok.

This year, I started to do leg extension and that solve the problem of my righ tknee. THen my left knee starts to hurt when I run. It turned out my bike seat was too low. I make my bike seat higher and it helped my left knee.

My Experience was knee pain tendonitis which felt better then hurt when I ran and was especially bad after last years SF Marathon. I took some time off but what really helped me was orthotics. As soon as I put them into my shoes I was a new man…. I now have Achilles pain from time to time but not usually when I run. Hope you are feeling better… G
