2nd week off

ahhhh......all is working out well. I moved, I unpacked and I got reconnected to the internet after SIX days of no connection!! How did we live before we had the computer??? Before TV?? Well, I had those days to remind myself. Remember Little House on the Prairie---where they sat around and TALKED to each other all night long???? Yep...lots of talking, reading, quiet time!! Who knew?????

The first two days after my move, the weather was beautiful. 50 degrees. I ran along Lake Michigan and into the Northwestern University campus. Oh it was amazing. (My ex husband actually proposed to me on the rocks of the University, so it was with warm thoughts when I passed that spot).

Then the storm hit!! I think we got 6 inches of snow by me. Thankfully, I didn't have to work. And double thankfully I have a beautiful new health club in my condo building. So off I trotted in my shorts and tank to the elevators connecting to the club. It was great.....except now I have to readjust to the temperature. I was sweating bullets.

The second day I went, I took a SUCCEED tab before I started and that helped a lot. I'm not happy being forced back on the treadmill, but I won't complain due to the convenience. They have some yoga classes that I'll be going to this week. I have NEVER taken a yoga class. I'm waaaay overdue!

That's cool that you have a place in your building and they have yoga! I do yoga to help the back.

Well Yoga is very good for you and running. Flexibity is so important. My knee started to hurt again and I realised it because I was not stretching my leg and it was tight again. Do the Yoga if you can.

Trendmills suck. go buy show shoes :).

Yep, and we are moving to a new house in 2 weeks...As for technology, we didn't have TV for 2 years, then connected for next 2, and in new place going to be without yet again. Computer, though, is a "window outside"...I need my venting with like-minded.

I do almost all my week-day runs on the treadmill in our apartment complex, and while I sort of hate it - the stuffy room, the repetitiveness, my own image in the mirror for miles on end - I am not sure what I'd do without with. It saves so much time. And it circumvents the problem of... how to dress right for the weather.

I can live without TV, but it is hard to go without the internet. Ah yes, the luxuries of life that have us wrapped around their little finger, or mouse in this case.

I have been doing more yoga recently and really enjoy them. I borrow all the yoga/pilates DVD's from the library and find the ones I like. Kathy Smith is good but Baron Baptise is even better.

Glad to hear the move went well. I spent some time after the storm remembering what we did before internet, too! Having an on-site fitness club is very cool!
