Ice Age Trail

Volunteering at the Ice Age 50-miler was lots of fun! We handed out plenty of goodies--potato chips, pretzels, pb&j sandwiches, licorice, m&ms, chocolate chip cookies, choc covered grahams, water, coke and Succeed! drink. Coke was the biggest request--lots of stomach issues by mile 40! The runners were very polite, thanking us for volunteering and most still had their sense of humor. When asked if they needed anything, many replied, "A new set of legs." One runner, when I asked what the "N" tattoo on his leg stood for told me, "Knowledge"! Hopefully, I'll be a runner here next year!!

What a fun pic!
Reminds me of...well...
ME! LOL!

That sounds like QUITE a race. I'd probably stick to volunteering. Not sure I'm up for the Ultra challenge!

But you GO, gal! A year to train!

You had a great time, and great pictures. I'd like to volunteer for an event like that too.

Coke? Is that supposed to help with stomach issues? i would think that would make it worse.

Awesome... that looks great. I think you will like the ultra-distance... and though I have only done one so far, I can tell you its the best feeling crossing that finish line. Also, I can't figure out the coke thing, that would make me sick.

Lora that is so awesome that you volunteered at mile 40 at Ice Age. A capital N for knowledge, I like it. And coke is the bomb. I don't know why, but I do know there is a reason, but it seems to get my taste buds back in order after all the sweet sugary gu crap that I have taken. Nothing like a pb&j though on white bread to keep you moving. I could have used some of those on Saturday.

sweet!!!!! that's awesome! I've read so many race reports from this year; it's great to get a volunteer report. that's how I got the ultra bug - volunteering!

How great! I actually planned on this one...too expensive to fly. Coke IS a life savier.
And I am totally with you on previous post:(
